Albert Enoch Johnson Suspect in Killing
Police are looking for Albert Enoch Johnson. He is six and a half feet. He knew Tony and Katherine Butterfield, who were killed earlier on Saturday in what the police described as a home invasion. Katherine Butterfield died inside her home, while Tony was found dead in the yard. They died from gunshot wounds and the police did not recover the weapon.
Police are also looking for a 2008 Toyota Corolla, plate V464MW. Investigators believe Johnson was stabbed and may have knife wounds to his arms and legs. The suspect appears to have fought Tony Butterfield in the yard before Butterfield’s death.
It’s still an investigation, sergeant. J.C. Holt said at a press conference on Monday afternoon. “So it’s hard to tell at this point what the reason is.”
Albert Enoch Johnson Criminal History
Holt said Johnson had a criminal history and an address in western Jordan, but not in the same area as the Butterfields’ home, nearly 3,200 in the west and 6,900 in the south.
“It was a targeted and isolated act,” said Holt. “It’s not random.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 801-840-4000.
Police learned of the shooting on Saturday around 1:15 p.m. after a neighbor called and said he heard gunshots and a woman shouted.
Holt said police found signs of forced entry into Butterfield’s house and it appeared that the suspect had searched the couple’s belongings, although it is unclear what the suspect had taken.
The individual also acted alone and Holt said the police were not looking for other suspects.
The couple’s three young children, who were at home at the time of the incident and were not injured, remain with family members. A GoFundMe account has been created to support children.
