Endail Thomas and Aline Palla Acosta Ages
On Monday, Endail Thomas, 26, was admitted to Broward County Jail in connection with the February 19 accident that killed Aline Palla Acosta.
He was charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicle murder and reckless driving. His bond was set at $ 221,000, the Sun Sentinel.
The accident happened at around 5:11 p.m. when Thomas was driving on Northeast 10th Street and was trying to pass a slower car. At that point, he pulled off the road and punched the woman, investigators from the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Thomas is said to have driven 96 mph in an area that has a speed limit of 35 mph.
In the moments leading up to the crash, Acosta had spoken to his parents in Brazil. Her horrified mother heard of the car crash.
Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene after the car nailed her to a post. According to a GoFundMe page, her family friends have raised money to have her body cremated and send the ashes back to Brazil, where her parents live.

The car was split in two after hitting a tree. Thomas and his co-pilot Melissa Gregoir (37) were thrown from the vehicle.

Thomas and Gregoire were questioned a week after the accident. Both reported that Thomas was driving at the time of the accident. Gregoire told police they had been together all day and, according to detectives, had been drinking alcohol.
Blood samples taken at the hospital showed Thomas had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 – more than double the legal limit.
