The San Antonio Express News reports that Angel has been shot multiple times. His dog Oliver was unharmed.
According to KSAT, Angel suffered three gunshot wounds to his upper body and the responding police found him unconscious.
He died shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital.
“Angel saved Oliver from the streets and treated him with love,” says GoFundMe. “Angel was a student of the Tejeda Academy, where he was a member of the student council and worked to graduate early to go to college.”
Ángel also “participated in the choral and theatrical arts” and “learned to play the guitar”.
The lifelong vegetarian “has found a relationship with animals,” the site continues. “Angel was a good Christian guy who was respectful and interested in getting to know all the people on this earth. He was always happy and really interested in knowing them for everyone … He truly embodied his name.”
Police currently have no suspicions, but are looking for a shiny limo, KSAT reports.
Speaking with KENS, Angel’s mother, Ginger Brady, said she heard gunshots and ran off and found him face down “in a pile of blood”.
The grieving mother said she delivered the child because “she felt she could not breathe because his face was buried in concrete.” Brady spoke to his son by calling 911.
“We always feel like it’s a dream and we will wake up and be there,” said Brady.
