Rivera was arrested Wednesday for attacking two police officers during a night-time melee fight outside the 79th Ward in Brooklyn.
Rivera allegedly hit several police officers with a metal barrier and slapped the officer who arrested him in the face, which led one of them to Bellevue hospital, according to police sources. The charges ranged from criminal possession of a weapon to assault and resisting arrest. Rivera posted bail in the case on Saturday, law enforcement sources said.
He was charged on September 18 for resisting arrest after allegedly blocking traffic during a protest by standing on the street along the southeast corner of LaGuardia Place and Washington Square South. Rivera allegedly hit one policeman in the head and kicked another while being transported to a prisoner’s police car. Rivera received a ticket to the office and was released.
“It’s not that we’re not giving a second chance, but at some point it’s enough,” said a senior law enforcement official. “I mean, he hit a cop in the head and we always give it a second chance.”

On July 22, he was arrested for second degree assault at the intersection of Lafayette and Worth streets after Rivera was seen in the middle of the street with a group of about 15 people who refused to walk.
Rivera is accused of throwing a heavy object at a policeman who damaged his protective shield and allegedly hit another policeman who tried to stop him and then kicked him a third time, according to police sources.
On the same day, he was charged with fourth degree theft for unlawful use of a credit card from a woman against whom a judicial protection warrant had been issued.
On June 3, Rivera was charged with threatening an incident on the Upper East Side in which he allegedly warned a man, “I’m going to shoot you” and rummaged through his own bag of books. No weapons were found.
