An Alabama woman Candelin Hyde was arrested Thursday for allegedly mistreating several children under the age of six on a number of occasions.

The Dothan Eagle reported that 36-year-old Candelin Hyde worked for a local childcare company, overseeing a classroom with fewer than 10 children. Police said in a statement that Hyde put “pressure points” on their shoulders or necks when children did not consent or listen.

Hyde was accused of injuring at least six children on multiple occasions from August to October 2020, some of whom had developmental disorders.

“The daycare center began investigating the allegations when several parents noticed unexplained bruises and injuries on the children,” police said in a statement from Dothan.

The Dothan Eagle reported that Hyde was the only teacher in charge of the class when the incidents occurred. In a meeting with management, Hyde reportedly admitted disciplining the children and causing the injuries.

Hyde was immediately fired from her job. The authorities learned of the abuse allegations on October 28th.

Hyde has been charged with aggravated child abuse of a child under the age of six. Additional fees may apply when law enforcement investigates Hyde’s classroom surveillance footage.
