Charles Bowman, 61, was convicted of second degree murder and manipulation of evidence. A judge fined him $ 25,000, the Sun Herald reported on Monday.
Bowman House in Pearl River County
On June 29, 2018, MPs from Bowman House in Pearl River County, Mississippi, conducted a social screening after the couple’s children reported their mother missing. According to The Sun Herald, Kathleen Bowman had not been seen since Mother’s Day that year.
When they arrived home, Charles Bowman told MPs his wife was not at home.
The Sun Herald reports that lawmakers later found charred remains in a metal bucket on the couple’s property. Soon after, Charles Bowman fled the state.
The US Marshal Service tracked his whereabouts in Utah, where he was sighted in Salt Lake City on July 7 and 9. They released photos and surveillance footage of the suspect in hopes the public would help locate him.
The US Marshal Service and the Violent Elusive Arrest Strike Team took Charles Bowman into custody on July 12 at an encampment on the east side of Bear Lake.
He was sent to Davis County Jail before being sent back to Mississippi on charges.
