An inquest has been launched into the death of Christian Bagley, who died after being stabbed to death in Hereford on Father’s Day 2015.

Herefordshire Coroner Mark Bricknell heard on Monday during an inquest at Hereford Town Hall that father Mr Bagley, 30, later died at Hereford County Hospital.

The inquest revealed that Mr Bagley died on 21 June 2015 from loss of blood and a stab wound to his left kidney.

He said there was enough evidence and it was safe to conclude the unlawful killing.

Police have previously said Mr Bagley, of Friars Street, was stabbed in the arm and back as he walked under the Hunderton Bridge, near the Great Western Way, after visiting his daughter on Father’s Day 2015.

He was believed to have walked up Villa Street towards the Hunderton Bridge at around 10.40pm on 21 June before being stabbed in the back and an arm on the way under the bridge.

The first 999 calls came in at 10.50pm, reporting that Mr Bagley was staying at Charles Witts Avenue, Hunderton.

He reached adjacent Rogers Avenue before collapsing.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the case, but no one has ever been charged.

At the time, Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding of West Mercia Police said a number of investigative lines had been carried out during the investigation into Christian’s death, including interviews with witnesses who may have seen Christian before he died on June 21, 2015.

DCI Harding said: “This was a callous and brutal murder of a young father and Christian’s mother, daughter and extended family are utterly devastated.

“This is made even more difficult by the fact that the responsible person or persons have yet to be caught.
