Wood, 56, was convicted of the murder of Matt LaFriniere of Thompson Falls in January 2018.
Prosecutors said Wood purchased a gun less than two months before the murder and tried to arouse suspicion with a flashlight phone.
“It was not a crime of passion,” said Justice Department attorney Stephanie Robles, defending the maximum sentence.
Wood left a residence when she threw a party to sell china the night LaFrienere was killed, witnesses said.
“Danielle has it all planned out,” said George LaFriniere, the victim’s father. “She is a pathological manipulator and has identified her son and boyfriend as possible suspects.”
Defense attorney Greg Rapkoch asked for a minimum sentence of 10 years.
“Danielle always maintains her innocence,” he said.
