Danny Shanahan, 64, was arrested at his home in Rhinebeck, New York on Wednesday, state police said in a press release. He was ordered to appear in court on January 20 after having s*x on minors, a class E crime.

Shanahan is a longtime New York-based cartoonist whose work last appeared in the magazine’s February 20 issue. A phone number listed in Shanahan’s public records has been disconnected. It was not known if he had a lawyer to speak for him.
According to state police, Shanahan’s arrest came after the Rhinebeck Village Police Department received an arrest warrant to search the contents of her computer.
Shanahan was released from prison and ordered to appear in Rhinebeck village court on January 20 to face charges against him, Putnam reported to the Daily Voice.
Shanahan has signed a contract with The New Yorker for over 30 years. Her work last appeared in the magazine in February, according to the magazine’s website.
The New Yorker on Thursday to comment on Shanahan’s arrest.
