Great, which Olien launched in 2015.
Although he introduces himself as a wellness expert, Olien is above all an entrepreneur. Some of the projects he brought to the market include the Shakeology superfood supplement, the 21 day Ultimate Reset rehabilitation, the 121 Tribe health app and even Baruka, whom Olien calls “super crazy”.
According to the Ridiculously Human podcast, an injury in college football prompted Olien to explore non-Western medicine as a way to heal his body after a childhood that saw him battling a range of illnesses.
Dr. Gundry’s podcast
Speaking of this nut on Dr. Gundry’s podcast, Olien said: “I was in Brazil watching interesting palm fruits in the Amazon, not even close to the Cerrado where it comes from.
“I had a guy who contacted me because he saw pictures on social media and said,” Hey, you’re in Brazil. I am Brazilian I found this nut. That’s nice? “The next thing you know, he is sending me samples, we are studying research and bingo in Portuguese”.
By placing this nut on the market, Olien is practicing the sustainable business practices he preached in Down to Earth. He said: “This indigenous group was trying to develop the Barukas. They received money, a lot of money from an NGO and, without having much structure, they ended up having indigenous wars because of so many” money so quickly and without really understanding how to deal with it. Then it exploded in their faces and it became almost impossible for them to take that nut off. ”
He added: “Something we are extremely proud of [is] what we tell these people in Brazil”. You gather the Barukas, in these areas, we will give you these fair wages, which we will announce on the radio so that no one can weaken you and we will buy them for the next 20 years. This will therefore create security, longevity and integrity. ”
