An Indiana man was arrested after customers at a McDonald’s restaurant after they saw him attack his girlfriend and force her into a car.

The incident, which occurred in Lafayette on the afternoon of January 31, drew three people, Tippecanoe County prosecutors said.

The suspect, Donovan Cruise Luff, 22, was seen by customers putting their hands on the throat of a woman who got out of her car in front of the restaurant, authorities said. The woman said “no,” but Luff forcibly pushed her into the car, according to an affidavit.

One of the witnesses said the woman had been grabbed by the hair, authorities said. The woman opened the car door before Luff slapped her, pushed her in, and walked away, the prosecutor’s office said.

The video recorded by witnesses helped police find the woman.
