A Minnesota woman is behind bars after police said they deliberately killed her disabled daughter and waited hours before being contacted.

The Star Tribune reports that Elise Nelson, 35, has been charged with second degree murder and second degree murder in connection with the death of her 13-year-old daughter, Kylie Larson.

According to court documents, Kylie was seriously ill and was wearing a pulse oximeter, a finger clip device that monitored her oxygen levels and heart rate. If the oxygen level or pulse was too low, a warning alarm was activated.

Elise Nelson silenced warning alarm before

On June 20, while Nelson’s husband was fishing and their other children were away, Nelson reportedly silenced Katie’s pulse oximeter alarm twice. Over the weekend, Nelson continued to disable the warning alarm, according to court documents, eventually shutting down the device entirely.

“When the machine was turned off, nothing checked the baby’s oxygen saturation or pulse,” said a criminal complaint.
CBS Minnesota reports that Kylie’s last pulse was detected at 6:43 a.m. on June 22. Nelson reportedly waited six hours to call 911.

When the first responders arrived, they found Kylie unconscious on the living room floor. Pools of blood have formed on the hind legs. They said she was dead “for a while” before arriving.
