“This is the side of me that lurked in the shadows, afraid and afraid of what the world would think; afraid of what my family, friends and supporters would say or do,” she continued. “I am no longer afraid and I am no longer afraid. Now I can confidently say that I love myself for WHO I am.”
Tuft, who previously wrestled with the name Tyler Reks, went on to speak about his journey, saying that “the last eight months have been some of the darkest of my life.”
“The emotional turmoil of being transgender and facing the world has ended me almost many times,” he recalls. “The day I stopped caring about what other people thought, the day I really became limitless and allowed my authentic self to be born.”
In his statement, Tuft also thanked his “loving” wife Priscilla, with whom he shares his 9-year-old daughter Mia, and who “have accepted me for who I am.”
“I will always be grateful for them. Their support along the way means more than you will ever know,” he wrote.
“I don’t expect everyone to agree or understand. It is not my job to change your core beliefs. You just need to know that the outer shell can change, but my soul remains the same,” Tuft added.
“I promise to always be transparent and sincere in my path and to be a light for those who need it. It is me,” the message concluded.
Tuft also shared a preview of his upcoming interview with Extra on Twitter, explaining how his transition affected his relationship with his wife, Priscilla.
“It was a very interesting development,” he said. “Our intimate lives have changed a lot. We are not that active right now, but what we have discovered is a completely different part of our relationship.”
Tuft has been married to Priscilla since 2002. In an Instagram story shared earlier this week, Priscilla said the couple “will share the most significant change in 23 years together.”
Tuft paid tribute to his wife on Wednesday, writing in part: “Our love has lasted many lifetimes. We fight to catch up … and in other lives, to break down. Wars … In the name of our love, we have lost our lives or are living to defend it and insurmountable distances and obstacles have separated us. However, in one way or another we find ourselves in each life and our physical and ethereal bodies come together as souls destined to be.
“I love you P, until my last breath … and then I’ll find you,” he wrote.
Tuft retired from professional wrestling in 2014 after a six-year career in WWE.
