A suspected Nebraska drug kingpin has evaded authorities for more than three decades by impersonating a dead child, federal prosecutors said Thursday
Howard Farley was finally arrested on Wednesday as he tried to board his private plane in the hangar of his Florida home, American lawyer María Chapa Lopez said in a statement.
The 72-year-old refugee was accused in 1985 of operating the Southern Line, a railway used to transport drugs across the United States.

Farley is believed to have lived on the run for 35 years, using the name of a Florida boy who died in 1955.
According to a criminal complaint, Farley stole the identity of a person identified only as “T.B”, who was born in Lake Worth, Florida in 1954 and died three months later.
However, his alleged ploy came to light after the government filed a passport renewal application in February showing T.B.’s name, date of birth, and social security number. had received.
Investigators uncovered this person’s death certificates and determined that T.B. they weren’t registered until 1983, which is unusual for someone born in 1954.
The complaint alleges that Farley used T.B’s information three times to obtain a passport: in March 1987, October 1998 and October 2008.
He even used the fraudulent passport to travel to Vietnam in 2018, the court document said.
Investigators also claim Farley has a Florida driver’s license and a driver’s license with the identity of T.B.
Officials trying to charge Farley with passport fraud went to Weirsdale, Florida. The house, which he has shared with a 56-year-old Vietnamese woman since at least 2007, authorities said Wednesday.
The fingerprint comparison confirmed Farley was the same wanted person in Nebraska since 1985.
