The Riverside Sheriff’s Association released a statement on behalf of Lopez’s parents, Riverside Deputy Sheriff Alicia Lopez and Riverside Sheriff’s Captain Herman Lopez, the outlet reported.
“We are saddened to hear the sad news of Hunter who, like his parents, chose to live a life of service, selflessness, courage and sacrifice. Hunter was the Riverside Sheriff’s Scout at Palm Desert Station from September 2014 to August 2017, ”the statement read.
RSA said Lopez was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, “which answered calls to serve, defend and protect our nation.”
“Hunter was cruelly injured and killed for wearing a United States [Navy] uniform with love and pride. Our entire community is in agony and we mourn the death of Hunter,” indicates the press release.
“Like his parents who serve our community, Hunter was not a seafaring profession; it was a phone call. He loved his family, and while we mourn Hunter and his comrades who were taken away too soon, there are simply no words to express how much he will miss him: Always Fi.
