Jacob David Kaminsky, 21, was working on the attraction Monday morning, performing a routine security check when he fell from the tower to the lower platform, WKMG News 6 reported.
Kaminsky reportedly fell when he was about 60 meters tall into the toy tower just before 8 a.m.
John Stine, director of marketing and sales at StarFlyer, told the network that Kaminsky’s sudden and tragic death was a “shock.”
“It’s a shock and we’re sad about it,” Stine said. “Anytime there’s an injury or something like that it’s extremely sad.”
StarFlyer employees did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Soaring 150 meters into the air, the StarFlyer, which opened in 2018, prides itself on being the “tallest swing ride in the world,” according to its website. The ride goes up and down for about three to four minutes, in addition to circling the tower at up to 45 miles per hour, while passengers are buckled up.
“No other attraction combines safety and excitement like the StarFlyer,” the attraction’s website explains.
The attraction, located in ICON Park in Orlando, is closed until further notice, WKMG News 6 reported.
“At this point the ride will remain closed as long as the investigation continues,” Stine told the vehicle.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
