Man, 29 arrest after a sidewalk accident involving a motor scooter killed an elderly pedestrian in Venice.
James Cody Skene, 29, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after an electric scooter he was driving collided with a 91-year-old man, according to a LAPD press release.

Police said the victim, who authorities could not identify by name, walked the Lincoln Boulevard sidewalk at around 9:20 pm. when he was hit by a scooter, knocking him over and hitting his head on the pavement.
Los Angeles firefighters rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance, but the man succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Skene and a passenger were driving a scooter on the curb and both were thrown out of the vehicle at the time of the collision, authorities said.
California law prohibits driving electric scooters on sidewalks, according to the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Electric scooters can only be driven on a bike path, trail or bike path at a speed of 15 mph.
Skene was originally held on $ 100,000 bail but was released after the bail was posted, KTLA reported.
It is not known if Skene was given a lawyer to speak on his behalf.
According to the LAPD, an investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
