Gardaí, who was investigating the murder of Jean Eagers, a mother of two, at her Dublin home this weekend, was still waiting Tuesday evening to question the main suspect in the case.

When Gardaí arrived at the scene, the suspect was inside and refused to leave, Gardai forcing himself into the house and arresting him.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Eagers, but she was declared dead at the scene.

The victim and the alleged murderer have been well known for decades and the gardai are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.

The impatient had two grown children and worked at Marks & Spencers at the Blanchardstown shopping center.

She lived for many years in the house where she was murdered.
