John Jamelske incarcerated at Clinton Correctional Center in Dannemora
Jamelske, incarcerated at Clinton Correctional Center in Dannemora, has at least two men directly linked to the heinous case against possible release. Onondaga District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick has said he could be released as early as April 2021 if granted parole.
He held several women in a concrete dungeon under his house, some for several years. In 2003, one of his victims escaped just long enough to call a family member.
While incarcerated, Jamelske’s prison discipline is largely clean. WSTM has received a copy of the NYS Corrections and Community Supervision Department’s Access to Information Request Register.
The record shows four violations in the past 13 years. The purpose of violations is to disobey the instructions of the guards or to delay the process of counting detainees. There are no violent encounters in the disciplinary file.
“He stole their soul and he cannot give it back,” lawyer Charles Bonner said of Jamelske. Bonner will write a letter to the probation authority urging the panel to deny Jamelske’s release.
His client suffers from enormous psychological disorders as a result of his captivity, he said.
In a letter to the parole board of the man who persecuted Jamelske, Rick Trunfio, First Deputy District Attorney of Onondaga, wrote about the victims evicted from the streets of Syracuse.
“You would wake up in a dungeon-like room he built in an underground bunker, shackled and naked. During their respective captivity, Jamelske controlled all aspects of their lives: when they ate, when they slept and when they bathed. He even checked that there was a light in the dungeon. He forced them to have sex with him every day, and he asked them to keep a calendar of the types of sexual behavior they endured. ”
Jamelske was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2003. He has almost completed the 18-year-old portion and will be considered by the parole board next week.
