Captain (Dr) Kelliann Leli
Captain (Dr) Kelliann Leli, of the town of Parlin, County of Middlesex, died on Friday in an “unrelated combat vehicle incident” at Al Dhafra air base, officials said.
Leli was a medic who had worked with the 60th Medical Operations Squadron at Travis Air Force Base in California.
The captain was also assigned to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing.
Leli’s colleagues remembered her as a great doctor who was always a team player.
“Our entire Travis family is beyond heartbroken by the tragic loss of our teammate, Kelliann,” Col. Corey Simmons, commander of 60 Air Mobility Wing, said in a statement.
“We think and pray for all of her loved ones during this unfathomable time.”
“Our Al Dhafra family mourns the tragic loss of Captain Kelliann Leli,” Brig. Gen. Larry Broadwell, commander of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, said in a statement.
“She was an exceptional nurse, officer and teammate here, and her incredible presence will be sorely missed.
Officials said the incident was under investigation.
