Kennedy Lucas, 24, also lied to police and hid his car keys in an attempt to cover his tracks after fatally injuring Krystal Hamilton, 20, on February 6 of this year.

But Lucas and his partner Vinny Guess, 28, tried to cover up their actions instead of calling for help while Krystal was seriously injured on the road.
The ‘sneaky couple’ changed seats so Guess could leave while Lucas stayed and lied to the residents, telling them there had been an accident she was not involved in.
A court heard that Lucas convinced her boyfriend to let her go behind the wheel of his car so that she could ‘show off’ what she had learned in just five unofficial lessons with her family.
She then told police in an interview: ‘I just wanted to play a bit. But playing has consequences.
Lucas lost control of the Volkswagen Passat as Krystal walked home after going to the stores around 11pm.
When she tried to brake, she hit the accelerator and accelerated before colliding with Krystal, who fell onto the sidewalk and sustained a fatal head injury.
Unable to stop, Lucas also crossed a border of grass in a full circle and crashed into a wall, causing around £ 11,000 in damage.
Lucas, from Luton, admitted causing death by recklessly driving and perverting the cause of justice and was jailed for 30 months on Friday.
She was also banned from driving for 18 months at Northampton Crown Court.
Guess, of Houghton Regis, Beds., Was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice.
The conviction, Judge Rupert Mayo said: ‘It is as serious as it gets. It involves staying with the person who is fighting for their life and doing nothing. It was devious.
‘Rather than attending the scene and making sure that person on the road had emergency help and accepting the blame, she stayed at the scene and acted what has been described as rather cold.
‘She strongly implied that she was not responsible and that he was a hit and run pilot.
“Nothing that I say in the sentence I pass can bring Krystal back.”
“ Her family is quite understandably devastated and feels Krystal has been stolen from them.
“They have every right to these views. The scars will take a lifetime to heal. Her life was worthless – it was priceless.
“The only reason I can define for [Lucas] driving the car is that she wanted to show off to her partner.
CCTV released in court showed how the couple tried to cover their tracks within seconds of the crash.
Less than 10 seconds after impact, Guess climbed into the driver’s seat of the Passat, left Lucas at the scene and drove off.
Lucas then stayed by and tried to flag a car and didn’t check on Krystal.
The first person to stop was a woman who knew Krystal. Lucas told him that there had been “a hit and run.”
When worried neighbors arrived to help, she told them she would be “back in two minutes” and left. She never came back.
Within two hours, police arrived at Lucas and Guess’ home to inquire about the damaged Passat ahead.
As the officer approached the door, the court heard how Lucas had hidden his car keys.
She then told the officer that she knew nothing about the car or the incident, and that “people parked in it all the time”.
Meanwhile, Krystal had been rushed to Coventry University Hospital with serious injuries.
The next day, Lucas and Guess saw a message on Facebook asking about a ‘girl on the scene who had seen it all and was gone’ and knew people were ‘looking for’ them.
They turned around that morning 12 hours after the crash as Krystal died ten days later in hospital with her mother by her side.
Northamptonshire Police Detective Constable Lauren El Sharkawi said after the case: ‘What happened on the night of February 6, 2020 shocked the Hamilton family beyond words.
“ Krystal was such a beloved young woman with a bright future and her whole life ahead of her.
