The Pentagon is “suspending” a plan to vaccinate Guantanamo Bay prisoners, including Al Qaeda terrorists Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, against COVID-19 next week.

Secretary John Kirby

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby confirmed on Saturday afternoon that the trial has been suspended after widespread outrage that terrorists are being given priority treatment for requested vaccines.

“No Guantanamo detainee has been vaccinated. We stop to move forward as we examine the protocols protecting the armed forces. We remain committed to our duty to protect our troops, ”Kirby wrote on Twitter.

The American internment camp houses 40 inmates, including the 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Prosecutor Clayton Trivett Jr. announced plans to vaccinate terrorists next Monday.

He is leading the case against five terrorists behind the September 11 attacks and told the New York Times that “a Pentagon official just signed a note authorizing the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine to inmates.”

The vaccination effort is expected to help restart trials for prisoners who have been delayed due to the pandemic.

But the news angered politicians and 9/11 forces who criticized the decision to vaccinate terrorists in front of American citizens.

The vaccine launch was due to a lack of doses, which hampered vaccination efforts in the United States, where only 26 million Americans have been vaccinated.

Tom Von Essen, who was the New York Fire Chief on September 11, said, “You can’t make it up. The ridiculousness of what we get from our government. They will get the vaccine to those lowlifes at Guantanamo Bay before everyone in America becomes the scene of the absurd. ‘

“It’s crazy,” Von Essen told The New York Post.

John Feal, a Ground Zero Pile Demolition Officer, told the Post: “The fact that the 9/11 community cannot get vaccinated and terrorists can show how backward our government is.

“It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. This is an insult to the people who have run around the towers and been killed, and to those who have worked on the pile for months and are sick. ‘
Rep. Elise Stefanik, Republican Representative for New York’s 21st District, said: “It is inexcusable and anti-American that President Biden prioritizes terrorists convicted in Gitmo over the elderly or vulnerable American veterans.”

Retired New York Fire Lieutenant. Michael O’Connell, who was on search and rescue on September 11, told The Post: “It’s absolutely disgusting.

“These terrorists have wreaked havoc, but it’s the patriots who must wait to be vaccinated.”

Guantanamo injections are given on a “voluntary basis” under Pentagon policy, which requires recipient approval for treatment that has not been fully approved by the FDA.

Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are currently only approved for emergency use.

The US Naval Base in Guantánamo began immunizing its 6,000 residents earlier this month. However, it was not assumed that inmates would be included in the deployment.

The vaccination effort is expected to help reopen trials for prisoners like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who have been delayed due to the pandemic.

It is not known how many cases of coronavirus, if any, have been detected at the facility.

While it is not known whether Mohammed will opt for a vaccination, the order means he could receive his push in front of millions of other Americans still awaiting their turn.
