Clark District Court Judge Tierra Jones convicted Whipple, whose allegations saved him from trial for murder, burglary, robbery and vehicle theft.
Police said 23-year-old Whipple tried to pay for her manicure with a fraudulent credit card before telling Nguyen that she was going to her machine to get money.
Nguyen and her boyfriend followed Whipple into the parking lot, where Nguyen was hit and thrown by a black Chevrolet Camaro driven by Whipple. Later, police said the car was stolen from a rental company.
Authorities said Whipple fled to Boulder City and then Los Angeles before turning himself in to police in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Arizona, nearly two weeks after Nguyen’s death.
