An investigation was opened after a brother accidentally shot her sister while she was displaying her gun.
The 18-year-old showed the gun to her sister when she exploded and struck her in the neck north of Houston.
Laura Natalya Rodriguez, 19, was identified as a victim after police arrived at the scene around 1:00 pm.
According to ABC 13, she was immediately pronounced dead.
Another older brother was trying CPR at home and called an ambulance when the accident happened.
Sgt. Matthew Brady of the Houston Police Department said, “This is a tragic situation for the entire family, and our thoughts and prayers accompany them.”
Laura attended Syracuse University in her senior year, but was home from the pandemic.
After her shocking death, her family said that “her favorite place is Disney World” and that “they love to laugh and have fun.”
At the time of the shooting, Houston police tweeted: “Our homicide investigators are at the scene of a deceased woman in a house 100 blocks north of Houston’s Wellington Street.
“The officers were called around 1:00 pm. The above information suggests that the woman was killed while other family members were at home.
“There is no more information at this time.”
Laura’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral expenses. He raised $ 17,150 and had a goal of $ 10,000.

The 19-year-old Syracuse University senior spent his first semester abroad in Madrid, traveling through Italy and embracing the world with open arms.
