Madog Rowlands, 23, strangled Lauren Griffiths, 21, before waiting 24 hours to dial 999 and tell them he “accidentally” killed her.

The sadistic killer had his body wrapped in plastic wrap, duct tape and trash bags.

Then he sat down with her late fiance and buried himself in a subway sandwich while opening a Netflix account at her home in Cardiff in April last year.

Rowlands also bought cannabis and MDMA and ordered domino pizza when college sweetheart Lauren was left lifeless next to him.

The sick student even took money from Lauren’s bank account to pay for the drugs after he strangled her with his bare hands.

After just two hours of jury deliberation, he was found guilty of murder at Newport Crown Court today.

During the trial, the jury heard Rowlands claim that he killed Lauren while defending himself during a “psychotic episode”.

The monster even laughed when he told 999 operators that he killed them but wanted to wait 24 hours before raising the alarm.

He could be heard on the terrifying phone call saying “I accidentally killed my fiancee”.

When asked what happened, Rowlands replied calmly, “She’s dead … I strangled her”.

He also did some scary web searches on his cell phone – including “how to show remorse” and “admit an admission of guilt”.

A native of Oswestry, Shrops, Lauren began a relationship with Rowlands while they were both in college in North Wales.

They moved to Cardiff in 2017 when Rowlands was taking a computer animation course at the University of South Wales and got engaged a year later.

The couple were to be married in a pagan ceremony two months after their death.

Rowlands had previously been arrested for strangling Lauren after breaking her laptop, but she declined to prosecute the charges.

Prosecutor Michael Jones QC said: “During the 999 call he informed the operator that Lauren was dead and was responsible for it and accidentally strangled her.

“After killing Lauren, as he accidentally says, he didn’t make that call to 999 right away.

“After killing her, several times after her death, he would buy items from a store and partially wrap her body in plastic wrap, duct tape and garbage bags.

After murdering Lauren, the monster claimed he loved his fiancée “100%”.

But he told police he “strangled her around her neck with his bare hands.”

Detective Inspector Stuart Wales of the South Wales Police Criminal Investigation Team said: ‘Lauren was a popular daughter and sister with a bright future.

“Your family has shown extraordinary patience and dignity during this long and heartbreaking ordeal.

“We hope you can now begin to recover and rebuild your life.”

Judge Daniel Williams adjourned the conviction to Jan.8 for a psychiatric report and an injury report.
