Lindsay Birbeck, 47, was found in a remote corner of a cemetery by a horrified dog handler 12 days after she disappeared in Accrington, Lancs.
The teaching assistant was attacked in the woods in August 2019 by the complete stranger Rocky Marciano Price, 16.
The monster teenager crushed Lindsay’s neck, then brutally tried to hack her body up.
Following the gruesome murder, Price was captured on CCTV while dragging the mother of two in a garbage can to the cemetery, where he dumped her body.
DSI’s Andy Cribbin, who led the murder investigation, has now revealed the moment he saw Lindsay’s mutilated body in the documentary Britain’s Deadliest Kids on Discovery +.
He said, “Lindsay’s body was naked, but it was wrapped in plastic. Leaves lay between Lindsay’s body and plastic wrap.
“There was grass in the tarpaulin that was not in the area of the cemetery. That showed us that the body was being transported from elsewhere.
“Some people noticed a garbage can in the crematorium, which was unusual.
“It was seen in the area where Lindsay’s body was recovered.”
As the murder investigation increased, the police made a shocking discovery on CCTV.
The footage showed the baby-faced killer dragging the blue garbage can through residential streets in broad daylight.
After finding a quiet and secluded spot near the train line, he spent over an hour burying Lindsay’s body before leaving a saw, gloves, and the trash can on the scene.
Over the next few days, the teen was arrested by CCTV when he returned four times to visit her grave.
Horrifyingly, the teenager had been “on the prowl” before the murder and had targeted a second woman who “had a happy escape” minutes before his brutal attack on Lindsay.
She bravely stood up after identifying Price on video surveillance by the name of the teenager given to police by others who knew him.
To the police’s surprise, Price was taken to the police station by his own parents.
But detectives faced a mammoth task as the teen’s IQ was only 65 – placing him in the ultra-low intelligence category.
