On Tuesday, a grand jury in the community of Iberville prosecuted Robert J. Marks, 42, for second degree murder, feticide, kidnapping, aggravated child abduction, obstruction of justice and multiple firearms offenses.

According to the WAFB, Marks was originally indicted by a grand jury in East Baton Rouge Parish. However, a judge recently ruled that the case should be transferred to Iberville Township, where Washington’s body was found, the station reports.
Washington’s body was found in a ditch in Rosedale, according to investigators who believe she was fatally shot in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The longtime innocent Marks was originally charged with murder and fetid in the community of East Baton Rouge.
WAFB reports that the first charges against Marks were dropped in the neighboring community following Tuesday’s indictment.
Washington was 40 when she was killed and was seven months pregnant – allegedly with Marks’ child, reports The Advocate.
Marks was married at the time.
Authorities claim that after throwing the victim’s body away, Marks drove Washington’s car to their neighborhood, parked it and left his 3-year-old daughter at home, reports The Advocate.
Police spotted the little girl wandering alone not far from the vehicle.
She had her mother’s blood on her feet and reportedly identified Marks as her mother’s murderer.
“We believe a jury will convict him once he has his day in court,” 18th Deputy Attorney Tony Clayton told The Advocate on Tuesday.
Marks is being held for a bond of $ 885,000. He has yet to file a formal plea against the newly filed charges. A lawyer who could speak on his behalf was not immediately identified.
Marks was fired from his post as deputy director of Brookstown Middle Magnet in Baton Rouge following his indictment in the fall of 2016. Washington had worked there as an education specialist.
