A woman from Texas is charged with murder in connection with the deaths of her two young daughters.

Madison McDonald, 30, was arrested Monday after allegedly killing and reporting her daughters Lillian Mae McDonald, 1, and Archer Hammond, 6, to police, the Irving Police Department said in a press release .

Authorities said McDonald’s surrendered to Irving Police Headquarters at 305 N. O’Connor Road at around 10 p.m. and used the lobby phone to call 911.

There, he informed the show that, according to police, he had killed his daughters.

Officers immediately responded to the McDonald’s house in the Anthem Apartments on the 700 block of Cowboys Parkway, where they found the two girls dead.

Robert Reeves, an information officer with the Irving Police Department, told a press conference Tuesday that McDonald believed he killed his children by “suffocating” them.

She added that McDonald’s demeanor was “calm” when officers approached her in the lobby of the police station.

“This is a terrible accident in which two children died,” Reeves said. “We may never know why because there will be no definition or reason that would ever justify the murder of two young children.”

An inquest is underway while a coroner seeks to determine the cause of death of the two children.

McDonald is currently being held without bail at Irving City Jail for two cases of capital murder of a person under the age of 10.

It is not known if you have been given a lawyer to speak on your behalf or if you have made a statement at this point.
