Sallay admitted selling drugs to Adam Sharkey, 49, on February 14, 2017. Sharkey died the next day. In exchange for the confession of guilt, the state dismissed the murder charge, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls courier reported.
Sallay also admitted selling a fentanyl and heroin blend to a confidential informant who worked with the Tri-County Drug Task Force on multiple occasions in February and March 2017 following Sharkey’s death.
Salley pleaded guilty to four counts of dispensing heroin and fentanyl with improved sentences based on previous criminal convictions. Prosecutors agreed that drug-related sentences should be imposed simultaneously for a total maximum duration of 15 years with a mandatory minimum of three years.
