While lying on the ground, authorities said a car traveling at around 10 miles per hour descended from the second floor of the parking lot and headed for the ramp on the first floor. Bump and Albrecht shot 100 yards at a time before finally coming to a stop, North Carolina News & Observer said.
Police said the unidentified driver was a Knightdale man and he apparently couldn’t see Albrecht on the ground behind his car and visual obstacles in the parking structure.
Authorities say they do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be the cause of the death, but did not say they blame the driver because the investigation into Albrecht’s death was ongoing.
