Co-moderator Michaela Okland confirmed the news on Twitter: “I prefer you to come to me than a news article. Mat was killed in a car accident last night.
“Actually, I can’t think of any other words at the moment. I wish I could get in touch with everyone who knows him personally, but the news has already spread and I currently cannot.
After a wave of giveaways, he added, “Thanks to everyone who got in touch, I’m very sorry, but I probably won’t answer for a while, even though we’re about to do so.
And thank you to everyone who tells stories and shares their impact on you. If you think of him in the future, talk to him.
Police investigating the incident said the white BMW driver did not stop to see George before heading east on Beverly Boulevard.
The podcaster, an Arizona State University graduate, died instantly.
As a tribute, American social media personality Britanny Broski tweeted: “Mat George was one of the first comedians I met on Twitter and really one of the funniest people on the internet.
“I can’t believe it’s real. He was so cute and he always laughed when you needed him, we will miss you every day king.
Ellie Schnitt added, “Mat George was incomparably funny, incomparably nice, and one of the best people I have ever met. Today he is incredibly sad, chaotic and unfair. We will miss you so much. ”
She Rates Dogs brought tens of thousands of listeners together for dating and relationship talks.
In December, George spoke about his transition from medical writer to podcasting.
He told Shoutout Arizona, “Before I switched from a life of medicine to a life of entertainment, I had a lot of questions on my mind. Some questions included, was it worth it? Am I sure you really wanted this?
‘So I did. I set up my apartment and left my friends in Arizona to move to Los Angeles and start the She Rates Dogs podcast with my best friend Michaela Okland. Since that was the biggest risk he had ever taken, he was obviously a nervous wreck. Five months later, I can honestly say that I am very happy about it. ‘
George also shared his experience as a gay man in the podcast world, adding, “My hopes for my Twitter account and She Rates Dogs the Podcast are to share my stories and engage LGBTQ + people around the world don’t feel like doing it.
“The most rewarding moments are when members of the LGBTQ + community contact me and tell me what I’ve made a difference in their lives.”
