Charron’s chance was dashed when she missed a 150 pound attempt. Italian Giorgia Bordignon successfully lifted this weight, the highest she has tried, and Chen Hen-Wue from China Taipei converted to 127 kg twice before the end.
But Charron made a successful second attempt at 128 kg and threw himself back into the mix, especially after Chen failed two attempts at 130 kg.
With the last lift of the Canadian, she picked up 131 kg and finished the lift.
Bordignon and Chen held on for silver and bronze when Colombian Mercedes Isabel Perez Charrons failed to lift, missed two attempts at 131 kg and then pounded the mat in frustration. They had to wait while British rider Sarah Davies, who appeared to pass out after successfully lifting 150 pounds, attempted a 150-pound attempt.
