Michael Hetle- Arrested
Michael Hetle was arrested on Tuesday after 24-year-old specialist Javon Prather was shot dead, Fairfax County police said in a press release. Hetle and Prather were neighbors in Springfield, Virginia, news agencies reported.
Men have been arguing for years, according to Prather’s mother, Shavon Prather.
“(Hetle) called the HOA (Home Owners Association) and said there was dog excrement in their backyard,” Prather told the Washington Post. “He called and complained when they took out the trash. All he could do to scold her and get her in trouble.”
Prather said his daughter-in-law witnessed the shooting.
Michael Hetle- Reason of Shooting
The Fairfax County police did not provide any reason for the fatal shot. Hetle was charged with second degree murder and the use of a firearm to commit a crime. He was detained without bail.
It was not clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
“Michael Hetle is an official who works at NASA headquarters in Washington as part of the agency’s corporate protection program,” NASA said in a statement to news agencies.
Michael Hetle- Was a Police Office in 2003
Hetle was also a police officer in Bellevue, Washington, until 2003, news agencies reported. During his service, he was involved in two fatal shootings – one in 2000 and one in 2001 – and was released from wrongdoing in both cases.
Prather has been a Maryland National Guard infantryman for almost four years, the Guard said in a tweet. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan retweeted the message and expressed condolences to Prather’s relatives.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of specialist Javon Prather,” wrote Hogan. “The First Lady and I ask all Marylanders to share with us our warm prayers to the family of Javon, to his friends and to all those who loved him.”
