On March 6, two days after the former Russian spy and his daughter were poisoned, DS Bailey was admitted to the intensive care unit, where he fought for his life for 18 days.
DS Bailey has now announced that after 18 years as an officer he will be retiring from Wiltshire Police because he “will not find peace by staying in these surroundings”.
