Nikki became famous after appearing on the Big Brother series in 2006 and has struggled with anorexia since childhood.

She had recently checked into a private hospital to treat her eating disorder and her friends had started a crowdfunding page to help with her treatment.

Her sad death was confirmed online by boyfriend Leon Dee on Saturday.

A statement on the GoFundMe page said: “It is with great sadness that we are sorry to announce that our dear friend Nikki passed away in the early hours of April 9th.

“It breaks our hearts to know that someone so precious has been taken from us at such a young age.

“Nikki not only touched the lives of millions of people, but also their friends and family, who will miss her very much.

“We want to ask for privacy during this difficult time while Nikki’s friends and family process the sad news. All the details will be released as soon as we know them.

“All donations were greatly appreciated and it was heartwarming for everyone including Nikki to see how much she was loved.”

Leon added that any funds raised on GoFundMe will be donated to a charity in Nikki’s memory.

He wrote: “Funds will be kept safe on this GoFundMe until we create an anorexic support organization that we will donate to in Nikki’s memory.

We will post updates for you with more details as soon as we have them. We are currently working with GoFundMe. If you’d like to request a refund, you can write to the GoFundMe team here.

“Rest in peace, Nikki. We love you and not a day will go by without missing your smile. ‘

A statement by her representative said: “It was with immeasurable grief that Nikki Grahame passed away in the early morning hours of April 9, 2021. Please respect the privacy of Nikki’s friends and family at this tragic and difficult time.”

Nikki appeared in Big Brother UK’s seventh series in 2006, where she finished fifth and developed an eating disorder as a child.

Just last month, Nikki’s friends had started a fundraiser to raise funds for her specialist care, and she managed to raise a total of £ 65,539.

The original page said, “She has fought for most of her life and as you can see Nikki is very bad now, so we need to act quickly.

‘Over the past few years, Nikki’s family and friends have tried so desperately to get the greatest possible help to Nikki through the NHS, but unfortunately the treatments have failed and we have exhausted all possible options and now, unfortunately, Nik is doing very badly now our last Hope.

“For this reason we believe that her treatment in a specialist clinic is the only option for her.

Nikki’s friend, TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal, also appealed to his supporters to help with donations.

Rylan, who won Celebrity Big Brother 11, said on Twitter: ‘This is hard to read but to share with permission. If any part of the family could help in any way, I know it would be very grateful. Send love x. ‘(sic)

And just two weeks ago, Nikki’s mother claimed her daughter’s 30-year battle with anorexia nervosa had worsened due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During an interview that morning, Susan Grahame, 66, revealed that the Big Brother icon was struggling with the isolation periods and gym closures caused by the statewide lockdowns, admitting, “COVID-19 really has capped it . ”

Susan told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, “I think last year Covid really set the cap.

“It sounds crazy, but so does things like closing gyms, which is very important to Nikki as she needs to know that she can work out.

‘The isolation, she couldn’t see anyone. I offered to stay with her, but she said, “I have to stay in my own house.” It was really hard for her, very hard.

“She had incurable loneliness … she was cut off, spending too much time alone and nothing but food.”

Nikki’s parents described the former model’s difficult childhood when she said, “We were very busy, my father got very sick, she was worried about me.

“My marriage failed, my husband had big problems at work at the time, it wasn’t a happy place.
