Five people died in the Big Apple on Sunday, including a man named Nissan Rogue who died while sitting next to his wife in a car in Queens as guns continued to plague the city, police said.

Police sources said the woman called police around 12:50 p.m. and said her husband was killed near 23-33 College Point Boulevard.
Police arriving at College Point found a 25-year-old man in the passenger seat of a Nissan Rogue with gunshot wounds to the head and chest and a woman sitting next to him, police said.
EMS declared the man dead at the scene. The two men fled the scene on foot.

“I was in my room, getting ready to sleep, and I heard a thud in the street,” said Paula Munez, a 19-year-old from the area.
“I thought they were firecrackers because it’s a holiday weekend, but I heard someone scream,” Munez said. “Soon I heard the police sirens, then the whole street was lit by police lights.
Shortly after 2 a.m., police said another man was injured in an altercation outside a Queens house.
The shooting on Powells Cove Boulevard in Beechhurst took place after a birthday party at the house, although the owner said he did not know the victim and the incident was unrelated to the party.
“Everything was silent, everything was silent,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified. And then I heard applause. I knew it was a success. ”
He said revelers from his party and another group next door took to the streets before the shooting.
The 23-year-old victim was taken to Bout Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. Police said he had to survive.
Hours later, in Brooklyn, a man was shot in the chest at the back of 478 E. 96th Street, police said.
A 40-year-old man was part of a large group when he was killed around 5 a.m. He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.
Police sources said the shooting took place before a party at the scene.
Residents at that address denied being told about the shooting on the same day, but a man said a party had been held there for some time.
“We’ve had this party for two weeks,” said the man, declining to give his name. “This weekend is awesome. There will be a lot more people here later. ”
About an hour later, a man was shot in the arm while fighting a gunman in a black mask on Blake Avenue and Amboy Street in the same neighborhood, police said. He was also taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.
Police said another shooting took place at 1:30 p.m. Details were not immediately available.
The Labor Day weekend violence continued with the peak of summer shootings. There were 242 shootings in August, up from 91 last year, police said.
