A 32-year-old Colorado mother was shot in the head in her truck and authorities arrested two teenagers in connection with her murder.

Pamela Cabriales was in her Land Rover SUV on February 20, 2008, when one of the teens jumped out of her car and opened fire on the vehicle, according to a statement from the Denver district attorney. She was shot in the head. She was seriously injured and later died in hospital.

Shooter Charged

The 14-year-old alleged shooter was charged with multiple crimes, including first degree murder and attempted first degree murder with complete indifference.

Denver prosecutors charged 18-year-old Neshan Johnson with driving the car the teenager got out of, with first-degree murder.

Authorities did not reveal a motive for the killing and did not say whether Cabriales knew the youths.

The youths avoided arrest until a few days later, when an officer recognized the vehicle and began a high-speed chase that ended when the suspect’s car collided with a pole. According to the probable affidavit case, the suspect’s vehicle also had two AR-15 rifles “in sight.”

The friends organized a GoFundMe to raise funds for Leo, Cabriales’ 6-year-old son.

“A beautiful soul has been the victim of a heinous crime,” says GoFundMe. “He is an extraordinary mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.”

The GoFundMe also points out the close bond between Cabriales and her son. “Pamela Cabriales is an amazing person and will always do anything to help those in need. Leo lights up the room with his love, smile and heart. Leo is Pamela’s eyes and world. He will go out of his way to make sure his son be concerned about. ”

The suspects are arrested without being linked. They have yet to come forward and court records do not reflect the attorneys authorized to speak on her behalf.
