Police were called just after 4:15 a.m. when Jones was seen walking through the gas station parking lots with a gun in hand in the Griffin Road and 7 South State Road parking lot, according to an arrest.
When Davies’ agents contacted Jones, who lives in Plantation, they said, “The handle of a pistol stuck out of his right front pocket.”
Police said it was a fully loaded handgun, and Jones told them he didn’t – and never had – a hidden gun license.
While the arrest report states that Jones complied with initial instructions to go to the field, the report later states that he “was very difficult with officers and appeared to be under the influence of a substance. Unknown”.
Police also said Jones “smelled strongly of alcohol”.
Jones, 32, was taken to the Davie Police Department for reservations and then to Broward Main Prison in Fort Lauderdale.
Jones was released by the Dolphins in March and has not signed another team since. During his 10 seasons in Miami, he was selected twice for the Pro Bowl.
