Robert James Sentenced in prison
64-year-old Adkins from Surry County was sentenced to 21-25 years in prison by Supreme Court Justice Angela Puckett for rape and murder. Court documents say both sentences will be triggered at the same time.
Adkins’ attorney, Stephen Ball, could not be contacted immediately by the newspaper.
Kevin Thomas, Ronda Blaylock’s first cousin, told the paper that he and his family were dissatisfied with the request. He said Adkins should have been tried for first degree murder and rape and sentenced to life in prison.
“Let’s just hope he dies in prison,” Thomas said. “We have nothing to say about it. We can only accept it. “”
