A 15-year-old boy from Texas was charged with murder Sunday for beating his mother to death.

The teen’s father called McKinney police around 1:00 a.m. at the home near Dallas where authorities located Stacy Ellen Barney, 50, police said. The teenager reportedly recorded the video assaulting Barney at the family home, police said.

According to investigators, the boy was detained during a search in the neighborhood. His name was not published because he is a young man.

Authorities did not comment on the circumstances in which Barney was hit or injured.

McKinney is located approximately 32 miles northeast of Dallas
