An off-duty Memphis firefighter Terrence Taylor was reportedly shot and killed on Friday afternoon in southeast Shelby County.

The sheriff’s office reported that a person was shot dead in the Germantown apartments on Parkline Drive near Miller Creek Lane. MPs reacted to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office later identified the victim as Terrence Taylor, 48. On Saturday morning, the Memphis Firefighters Association confirmed that Taylor was a 16-year veteran with the Memphis Fire Department.

According to the SCSO, a homicide investigation is underway. No arrests have been made at this stage.
