The baby was taken to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton but tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Post-mortem and other forensic investigations revealed that Baby Asiah died of neglect.

Kudi appeared via videoconference, wrapped himself in a gray blanket and cried as the indictment was read.

The CPS-approved charge follows an investigation by detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team. No appeal was made today and she has been remanded until November 16, before appearing before Lewes Crown Court.

No bail or bank chair request was made, and she was remanded in custody due to the nature and severity of the crime.

A statement from the Sussex Police said this morning: “A mother was accused of causing her daughter’s death in Brighton.
